About Japa Mala Beads

Japa Mala Beads was started in 2004 with five unique mala designs. After searching locally and online for a new mala, founder Timothy Burgin gave up in frustration and made his own. He was so happy with his results that he decided to share his newly found craft to others. By October of 2005, our line increased to 13 unique gemstone designs and we started importing traditional malas from India. Since then we have continued to grow and expand our line of mala beads and we now have over 100 different malas available!

We source our mala beads from over 35 vendors, from all around the globe. We love finding new and unique beads to craft beautiful and potent malas from.

We are a small business located in Asheville, North Carolina and are dedicated to operating an eco-conscious company. Almost all of our packing and shipping materials are made from recycled materials (or are re-used) and since 2007 we have been a carbon neutral business. To preserve our peaceful working environment we do not take phone calls but we will happily return your email as quickly as we can.
